For the site that you want to create, honestly, the domain is the least of your problems.
Free top level domains like net/org/com/etc don't really exist. If you want a top level domain, you are going to have to pay the $10 a year.
My concern in your case is that if you can't even afford the $10 a year for a domain name, I don't know how you can afford all of the other things you need in order to set up a gaming site.
You probably need to spend more than $1000 (yes, a thousand dollars) a year in order to get the space and bandwidth that you need.
There are actually sites that offer free domain hosting, but they are less reliable than paid hosting, and you will not get the space and bandwidth that you need for free. You need to pay top dollar to get the quality domain hosting that you need.
What is your plan for the games? You're probably going to need to pay for game licenses if you want to use existing games. If it was possible for you to get the games for free, then it is probably possible for others to get them for free, and honestly, why would they pay for games when they can go to another site and get them for free?
If you want custom games, then you have to hire game designers and they are not going to be cheap. Even if you are willing to create them yourself, you need to have the knowledge and equipment to do so, and software ain't cheap.
My last concern is well, do you even know how to make a quality professional website or do you expect for someone to do it for you for free? No quality web designer will design a website for free. Even the crappy ones are charging money for poorly made sites.
You literally need a whole staff to create a gaming site and you need to pay them.
