We have a Wii (obtained 10 days prior to Christmas-regrettably thru Jingle All the Way/Arnold S methods

but-my entire family had been trying to help my sister locate one in any/every store-both in person & on-line (in Illinois/Indiana) since March 08. She & her husband originally wanted to get it for their kids for Easter, & when that proved impossible, my overly confident brother-in-law was sure he could call every major store manager, get Wii shipment arrival dates, and go that date and pick one up. NO success in ANY being on the shelf-even at the stores where the managers actually gave their next Wii shipment "arrival" dates. Frustrated after 3 months of "actively" (borderline obsessively

calling and speaking in person with several managers at various large chain stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City (etc.) Two of the managers told him that if they're expecting a shipment of 25 Wii's- 40+ people will be there, waiting outside, prior to store opening and the shipment will only have 10 instead of the 25 anticipated..The Best Buy Store Mgr. said on those Wii arrival dates,he recognizes at least 1/2 of the customers waiting outside prior to store opening as he has seen them and had to speak with most of them re: store policies on Wii purchase limitations (#allowed/customer) He said each one of them he's had to speak with personally, has readily admitted that they were buying Wii's and then selling them on ebay. He said, "Ebay.....THAT- in itself- is keeping the cost/demand high, because Nintendo can't/won't(?) exceed production to meet demand. And those people said they're making 3-$400 profit every 3/5 days on every Wii system they put up for auction. My twin nieces asked if both sides of their family could each chip in $ together for a Wii, for their 7th birthday because that was the only thing in the whole world, they wanted. So 14 of us, actively searching/calling for two weeks straight-finally, paid off and the best news is this past weekend,we found SEVERAL brand new Wii's, in what I thought was a most unlikely place. They were such a "small" store(compared to Best Buy,etc.) that even though I new these type of stores were "authorized by nintendo to sell their licensed merchandise"-it NEVER occured to me they would carry brand new Wii systems and not just games for the various systems. We couldn't believe it when we stumbled upon 4 (!) of them in the store.. We found ours (we only bought 1 of the 4. The store is located in "campus-town" near the U of Illinois in a small "authorized" store called "Game Stop".
The Manager was super nice and said since ,most of the U of I students leave during summer break, he's had a couple Wii's in stock on a regular basis. The best part is, no rediculous $$$ mark up either. We bought it for my sisters family and FOR: the Wii console, 2 remotes, 2 nun-chucks w/ 2 Wii multiplayer games was around $275, brand new! I don't know how close you live to a large "college town", but it would definitely be worth looking into an authorized Nintendo Game store or similar place like that. You may even want to call "Game Stop" located in Champaign, Illinois tomorrow morning first thing to see if they have one if they'll ship it to you if you buy it over the phone. They were very helpful and knowledgable while we were there. I hope this helps.....and good luck. If it helps motivate you my husband and I have no regrets on buying our Wii. It has been well worth every penny we paid for it and then some.We use it every single day, through our television, to surf the net, check our email and play games. If I were you, if given the option, I would pay a little extra to have it shipped. I don't believe you would regret it and sadly they will be more difficult to find as we get closer to the "Jingle All the Way" holidays. Best Wishes to you... I really hope you get one AND that it's reasonably priced
